Need for Speed Shift Unleashed vs Need for Speed Shift

Do you like racing games? Do you like racing simulation games that are close to reality? Do you like to drive the fastest car in the world on its top speed? Do you love the thrill of passing your competitors in a blaze?

Well, if the answer to above questions is ‘yes’ then Shift-Unleashed is the game for you and if you liked NFS Shift for its raw action and awesome graphics, then Shift – Unleashed will blow you away!

I started playing Shift as soon as it was released in India with a hefty price tag of Rs.2000/-. Every new game comes with the same price, i.e. in the range of Rs.2000/- to Rs.3000/- but not more than that. That’s a lot of money if you don’t have the permission to play games and work part-time just because you are crazy about games. Anyway, I am not here to tell you my sad story. But let’s talk about Shift first.

 

Need for Speed: Shift

• After being terribly disappointed by Need for Speed: Pro Street, Shift was released and became a great racing game. It rivaled with the likes of Race Driver: Grid and Gran Turismo (even though it is a true racing-simulation game).

• Graphics and damage physics was great.

• Gameplay was nice as well, featuring many ways to get access to a Tier 4 car when you have the money to purchase on Tier 1 or 2 car.

• The game stuttered on my system (Pentium D) when I used to go beyond the limit of my car. But as soon as I hit breaks, it would return to normal smooth game play.

• AIs were very skilled and an average gamer did not have any chance of winning unless he/she lowers the difficulty level.

• Feel of speed or sense of speed was amazing.

• Improved and detailed cockpit view.

• And much more.

 

Now let’s discuss what Shift Unleashed brings under the hoods of super cars.

• 3D gameplay – Don’t disagree with me or deny the existence. You know it’s going to happen anyway.

• Extra damage physics and real-time crash engine.

• Optimized for Nvidia graphics card (feel free to disagree with me).

• Same old gameplay with new tracks and environment.

• Realtime crowd cheering.

• Extra difficult AIs and one more difficulty level.

• Completely retouched sense of speed.

• Retouched cockpit and interior view.

• Record gameplay with a click.

• Even more settings to customize and tune your cars, giving Shift – Unleashed a feeling of true racing simulation game.

• Dedicated racing wheel for Shift – Unleashed. Of course, would not be a part of the package.

So… it seems that Shift – Unleashed is a great sequel game to Shift. It offers everything new with some old things as well. However, we cannot go in further without experiencing it ourselves and there is just one way to do that. When the demo comes, we have got to play it to prove that it is the best Need for Speed game ever. Else… we can also convince ourselves that… Shift was the best.
