Logitech K750 Solar Wireless Keyboard Review

By

Logitech K750

Hi there friends. Today, I am going to share with you the experience of an amazing chiclet style keyboard.

It is Logitech K750 Solar Wireless keyboard and I bought it specially because it has highly low-profile keys (like laptops), is equipped with solar panels for recharging (more on that below) and is perfect for those who type at 80+ words per minute.

This review is going to be small but it will enlist all key points that you might want to know.

So, let us get started:

  • Logitech K750 has really low-profile keys and it is easier to type really (really) fast on this keyboard.
  • The fingers don’t feel any stress because the cushion (rubber pad) taps the key as soon as you hit it. Also, it comes back again pretty quickly too.
  • So, typing on this keyboard is bliss.
  • This rubber thing is what bothered me about Apple wireless (and wired) keyboard. It was a great keyboard (chiclet style and very low profile keys), but because the keys wouldn’t pop-up again quickly, there was a little delay while typing fast.
  • It may not bother to many people who type at 40 to 50 words per minute but it did bother me because my typing speed is 90+ and I know several people who type more than 100+.
  • Now, the solar recharge panel takes away the need of cells in this keyboard.
  • It has a battery that recharges from light, like our solar calculators. Logitech provides a Solar App to determine how much light you are getting for you keyboard and how much battery is left.
  • The battery is super nice because it can last for whole 3 months in complete darkness. Of course that time can easily drop to 1 month if you keep on typing.
  • Although, it would be weird if you actually had to go through 3 months without light because you can actually recharge it from the light coming from your desktop’s (laptop’s, tv’s, etc.) screen.
  • The best part of recharging from solar panel is that you don’t need sunlight (in this case) to do the charging. Your bulbs, tube lights, CFLs would do just fine. As a matter of fact, the Solar App comes very handy when you need to determine how much light (in Lux) you are getting.
  • The keyboard recharges even when it is turned off. Turning it ON only means that you can now type on it. Recharging the keyboard doesn’t have anything to do with it. So, you don’t have to worry about recharging when the keyboard is turned OFF.
  • The keyboard comes with a unifying receiver (tiny receiver if I must add) that is compatible with other wireless devices from Logitech (unifying certified).
  • The keyboard is definitely not light. It is actually heavier than my Logitech MK250 Wireless keyboard. That is quite understandable because this keyboard has a solar plate installed that converts the solar energy to electrical and charges the battery. You must have seen solar panels. They are huge, yet they convert very little amount of energy.
  • Also, because of this weight, the keyboard sticks to the table firmly and stays that way even when you are banging on the keys like a crazy person. It also gives you the feeling that the keyboard is really tough and sturdy.
  • It comes with two hinges that can be pulled out to increase the angle for typing comfortably. People who are accustomed to type like that can take the advantage. This is obviously not a unique feature but it is there anyway.
  • Right now, my typing speed is 90+ and I am sure that I’ll be able to reach 128 WPM in few months with this keyboard.
  • That speed is my goal because I read somewhere that we speak at 128 wpm (normally) and I want to type as soon as I say something!
  • I have included few images of Logitech K750.
  • I booked the keyboard from Flipkart.com and it came 2 days later, which is pretty quick considering they tell you to wait for 1 week.
  • The price of this keyboard at Logitech India’s website is Rs.5995/- (or $119.9 at $1=Rs.50/-) and I got it for only Rs.4560/- (or $91.2) so I guess that is a good deal.
  • It comes with 3 years of limited warranty and you can claim it in case your solar panel doesn’t work or it fails to recharge even when you put it in direct sunlight (but don’t do that)!

Conclusion

That is pretty much all what I had to say about Logitech K750 solar wireless keyboard. I am sure that you will agree with me once you try it yourself.

The keyboard feels amazing and all the shortcuts keys (media keys, mail, internet, calculator etc.) work perfectly with Windows 7.

I think that this is the best keyboard I have had yet and I won’t have to change it unless they come up with a better solution (typical me). Till then have fun typing friends. Ciao.
