Only calculations are not enough!
I hope that you are well aware of the potential of HubPages and if you are not, then dig deeper and find out what others are talking about and that will make you sure enough to proceed with your efforts on HubPages.
Here is a little calculation that will tell you that you can certainly make $10 a day easily with 5 articles each day in 3 months.
- First of all, you need to optimize your time to produce quality content which is not copied.
- Then you need to promote your articles via Ping.fm, Pingomatic, Pingler, social bookmarking sites and commenting on other blogs.
- Then you have to wait and watch as the revenue grows each and every day.
Here we go with the calculation:
- Let’s say you produce 5 hubs each day without fail. No work, no holiday, any celebrations will turn you against your will of writing hubs. If you can write more than 5 hubs each day then it will speed up the process but less will not do the trick.
- If we produce 5 hubs each day then in a month of 30 days, we will publish 150 hubs.
- I know that we will get traffic in that month as well and if we publish great content then we can see even 50 to 500 views per article per day. But things are not always so good for every niche.
- Alright, let’s aim for at least 10 views per article per day.
- That will give us 150 X 10 = 1500 views per day (considering from next month).
- In next month, we would be getting 1500 X 30 = 45000 visits per month (which is really significant).
- If we assume a cost per thousand (CPM) of $4, which is very low by the way because on HubPages the CPM usually sticks around $6 to $8 and more.
- A quick calculation will tell us that 45000/1000 (converting total views into per thousands) multiplied by 4 (assumed CPM) = $180 per month.
- Above calculation is for one month only and our traffic will grow over time and we will see even more revenue each month. But our work hasn’t stopped yet.
- By this time, we have successfully achieved $6 per day, which is not a bad average for starters.
- Continue writing for 3 consecutive months and you will get $18/ day as an average.
- However, we have to be realistic and not assume that our articles will keep getting traffic and ad clicks. But if we work on ever green articles then we can make it possible.
- It would be safe to assume that by the time third month goes by and you have at least 450 hubs on HubPages, which are quality hubs in every manner, you would be making at least $10 per day as an average.
- People will tell you that back-linking is an ever learning process and they are true. Back-linking never stops and is never enough, so to give life to your old hubs, you can continue with commenting on others blogs and websites.
- Edit them with some new information, pictures and videos, and they will work great too with other hubs.
I know that calculations are never enough and are never precise when you have not written anything. So, rather than calculating yourself to the point that your register is full with numbers and signs, you need to focus on writing more and more quality content.
Believe me, by the time you hit the magical number of 500, you would be already making a nice passive income per day that is only going to increase as each day passes by. To give yourself some quick motivation before you begin to question on these calculations, you might want to head over to http://www.hubpages.com/success and read all success stories there and that will give the nice boost that we are looking forward to.

I can't argue with you about whether Hubs mature, because you've been here 19 months so your experience has obviously been different from mine. Until the Panda update, I definitely observed that the rate of earnings for my good Hubs kept on increasing steadily month by month, the older they got. But perhaps that's my choice of subject.
Interesting hub, It sure takes alot of work to try to write quality hubs. I've never been good at writing, but I'll keep on trying.
$1000 a month with 700 articles? I know people making $1000 a month with far less. It's not about quantity, it's about quality.
Hubs that do best are long (800 to 1500 words), liberally illustrated with videos and photos (please make sure you're using them legally though). You can't write five of those in a day!
Also bear in mind that Hubs take time to mature. Some Hubs can take one or two years to reach their full income potential.
According to the survey I have on my earnings Hubs, 65% of the people on HubPages don't make $10 in a month, so I have to honestly say I don't think your theory here actually holds up.
A while back Paul E., the CEO of Hubpages stated that there were some hubbers who were making their $50.00 payout every single day.
For obvious reasons he wouldn't say who those persons were - but that's inspiring for me.
Actually, my goal is $20/day here - but if I could make $50 a day, then I'd definitely start looking at this as a "career" type thing.
Of course I also write on other sites, but this is maybe the best site, and it's the one I work on the most.
Also, I assumed that you were talking about the HP ad program...adding in ebay and amazon earnings along with Adsense - one could easily still make a lot more with enough really well put together hubs about topics that they know a lot about.
I'm positive the ten bucks a day is doable here.
Misha used to make one hundred dollars per day here a couple of years ago...but he and most of his hubs are no longer on this site - he'd had a falling out, and the internet itself has changed too.
I was getting close to three bucks a day last month - but this month is going to be down for us all (probably) and is looking down for me despite my traffic increasing.
This is due to the fact that this month advertisers are paying LESS for advertising than the did last month - the reasons should be obvious.
Please please please do NOT try to mass produce hubs - they won't be so good as a well thought out and very good hub.
Maybe some people can just force themselves and come up with a good hub every single day, but I know for certain that I can not.
One good hub, a really well thought out hub - is going to be better than something put together in an hour's time almost every time.
I see a lot of folks complaining about their low earnings in forums and in the Q & A...but then when I look at their profiles - there's no wonder why, they generally have twenty half thought out hubs with poor on page SEO and a low word count.
Ten bucks a day is definitely doable, but it's going to be hard work...the good news is that once that work is done....those hubs just keep on keeping on.
This hub was very helpful thank you. I need to do some research and start to earn some cash.
Interesting hub and although I would like to earn a little extra cash, I enjoy primarily writing - and when a hub gets some good attention, it makes me feel better.
I don't know if I could write five articles a day and keep them reading sensibly. I accept what you say but it's a difficult one!!!
very interesting helpful hub. I love reading these kinds of hubs. 5 hubs a day would be a good thing to work towards. I was able to get three a day last Sunday, but so far one today. But I've also been hub hopping for a little while today. The followers are always nice too. I see that some people who have been here a long time have 1000 followers. That's a lot. So having followers helps a little with earnings too, but more important, they are your friends and give you good feedback and advice.
very motivating hub!
I agree that writing more articles a day is the way to get money faster - five quality articles a day seems rather ambitious, but I will certainly try to reach that! I also hope that that many articles will yield more than $10 a day - that seems like a lot of work for not much money.
Thanks for the motivating hub, you make writers like us have a goal to work towards. Cheers and best of luck in our writing, BB
Writing hubs would be a great idea for NaNoWriMo! The point is to write about 1700 words a day, and if you can manage that with hubs, you would end the month with a good amount of content for your Hubpages :) Thank you for the article! It's inspiring!
Thanks for your encouraging post. I like how you break the numbers down. Makes it seem doable. I write a lot more than that for other publishers -- but I get paid for everything I write. I haven't been prolific here because it's difficult to take time away from steady income. I'll post some more and see if there's an improvement.
Honestly I'm finding even 1 Hub a day quite challenging, so maybe that's why I'm not making a lot through Hubpages? I know that I only have 4 hubs, but I hope soon I will make it to 100! Thanks for this article!
That has been well explained for a beginner like me too, it instills in me a head start to start following up such inspiring guidelines
This is such a great article! You've put so much effort into calculating how to make money! It's great for a beginner like me to see this, thank you so much!
Nice article. I hope I can keep up the motivation this time. I do agree with you, publishing 5 quality items per day will take some work.
The way you present your thinking on the possibility of making $10 a day is very encouraging! :)
Nice info, thanks!
Really this Hub makes me much motivated I am newbie here but I have now get much energy to start as you mentioned.
But one thing 5 Hubs / day is much and also quality content is seems difficult for me.
I will try my best to reach what you have mentioned.
Thanks for this great hub

@gail - Yeah, it does Gail641. But it certainly pays off. :)
@Marisa Wright - May be that is what it is Marisa. I chose Technology niche, which covers a pretty wide area and I don't even cover most of the things in that niche.
Still, it is nice to see huge spikes when the product finally releases. Of course, my traffic dies after that product and this strategy is not the best one out there, I still love to write about Gadgets and games and How-to articles more than any other niche.
I actually started Recipe articles from my mother's diary and it turned out to be a disaster. She knows cooking way better than me and that is why I coudln't put the feeling of awesomeness like she would have.
Anyway, the maturity of article must depend on variety of topics and niches. Since, I haven't chosen any such topic, I don't see it working for me.
In any case, I have read your hubs and they are amazing. I'll try to keep up too. :)
