Using Google Trends to find topics to write articles
Google Trends can be the most useful tool to pick the hottest news on the internet at an instant. The information on Google Trends can be categorized by days, time, countries, etc.
So, it is practically a sea of current information and the statistics that Google Trends delivers are always very helpful. You can tell in a glance about the popularity of a site and when the story started and when it went hot to cold.
So, for people who are stuck and are whining about not having topics to write, should cheer up as I am going to tell them exactly how they should use Google Trends to write great articles every time they are stuck with no topic to write about. I don’t want to make this article too big, hence I am dividing it in 5 part series. I recommend you read all 5 of them for maximum benefit.
This article series will cover:
1. Using Google Trends to find topics to write articles.
2. Using Google External Keyword tool to find out keywords in three minutes.
3. How to search and gather information to write about?
4. How to write articles on your chosen topic?
5. Using Google Real-time to find the current ongoing on your favorite topics.
6. How to write articles fast?
Now, before starting, I would like to tell you that if you want to do something for real then you need to learn as much as you can. However, don’t get confused while you are doing that.
Also, don’t just read this stuff and try it out later or forget it or something unhealthy like that. Implement what you learn in each step right away. There is nothing wrong with this and you’ll only get better if you practice as you learn.
So let’s get started then:
Using Google Trends to find topics to write articles
I have already told you how good Google Trends is and how well you can do if you use it. So now I am going to show you how to find topics to write articles with the help of Google Trends.
Head on to Google Trends and look for Hot Topics and Hot Searches.
As you can see there is a lot to write about that people are really searching and want to learn. I must warn you though, you should never ever write about those topics that you don’t feel interest in, because that would make your article look tasteless and a piece that was written just to make money.
Remember! If you do want to ‘make money online writing articles’ then you must focus on delivering great content. You might have heard it earlier and you shall be hearing it again and again in future too. Money pulls visitors when you buy PPC campaigns like Google Adwords, but ‘Great Contents’ or ‘Killer Contents’ are bound to pull visitors as well as ad-clicks automatically.
How to find your topic and category?
Looking at my technology blog, you can say that I am heavily interested in Computer and Internet category and it pretty much covers a very wide area. Also, I do like gadgets and gizmos, thus my category expands to Electronics and now I can post articles in a wide variety rather than sticking myself to only Computer and Internet.
So I am going to select 'internet explorer' and 'ie9' as my base topic that I am going to write about. Since it is in hot topic, I’ll have no problem in showcasing my article quickly.
Today I wrote an article on ‘Chase online banking still down’, as soon as I looked it was listed in Hot Searches. As soon as I published my article, I started receiving visits and I didn’t even promote that post yet.
That’s why, this step is very important and crucial. You must know exactly what you like and what attracts you. Then sort it out based on its category. The best way to do this is write down everything that you like and that attracts you.
For example : Kksonakiya likes (sometimes judging yourself from a third person’s view helps too) pc games, Smartphones, gaming consoles, laptops, high-end gaming systems, sci-fi movies, romantic comedy movies, comedy anime, normal clothes (not too hi-fi and not too dull), scary movies, magical novels, mystery novels, etc.
There is more to write and I could have written everything, but I don’t want to lose track here. You have to do it yourself because even if I didn’t write everything here, I still do the same every month in detail (to know my current tastes and likes).
Have a look at my list and you’ll understand it much better. I compiled many things in few words, like I am interested in pc games, but I won’t play each and every game. I like FPS, TPS, stealth, open-world, action-adventure sort-of games. So, while you’re writing your likes and dislikes, you should also point out what part of it do you like in particular.
As for this exercise, the best thing would be to write the application associated with that particular interest of yours.
For example: You like to listen Music, may be you don’t like Video Songs. And in those particular Audio Songs, you don’t like Rock, heavy-metal, jazz, etc., so now your list becomes more focused and you learn more about topics that you can write about.
Here is a real example for you: A girl was selected in her IAS (Collector – UPSC Exams, India) interview in her first trial. She was asked, ‘How did you pass your written exams while many others have failed?’. She answered, ‘I studied lesser than others!” Interviewers were surprised and impressed at the same time. They asked again, “What do you mean? You can’t pass UPSC exams by studying less, are you kidding us?” The girl answered, “Absolutely not sir! I wrote about those things that I should not read for UPSC exams and then, I completely set them aside and what was left, was so less that I did not have any problem in mastering it!”
The answer was overwhelming and interviewer knew at the very moment that this girl knows how to select important matters from the rumble of mixed matters and so, she was chosen. Though, it might look that after excluding everything else from here study material only few things were left, but they were enough to make her pass her exams. Mastering something is necessary when you really want to achieve a goal.
Just like, if you want to write an article fast, then before researching for any rubbish on the internet, you must focus heavily on improving your typing speed, because no matter what you do, in the end, what matters is your fingers running on the keyboard.
So, do it now and then we’ll proceed to our next step, Using Google External Keyword tool to find out keywords in three minutes.

I really like Google trends. I have yet to use it to find a topic. But, I do use it to research key word phrases. I want to know if the search volume is going up or down.
Very useful article. I think the next time I get stuck on what to write about I'll use this info. I voted your hub up for useful and added you as a person to follow. If you get a chance check out a few of my articles. Thanks again for the useful info, next I'm going to check out your article on the Iphone since I'm thinking about purchasing one.
Google tools are great places for info on decision making for your hubs, like you put very here. One tool I believe worth mentioning that isn't there is the "Wonder Wheel."
