You must have seen apps related to websites or blogs for Smartphone, whether they are for Android OS, iOS, Windows Mobile, Symbian, etc. or desktop application like Windows OS, Mac OS, Linux, etc.
The point is, they create these apps to increase their targeted traffic. You see, only those people will download the application on their smartphones or computers, who are interested in getting fresh contents from the respective website or blog.
So, here I am going to explain how to create an app for Symbian OS via Nokia App Wizard. The process is very simple and gives you a way to monetize your app as well. I have also included a step by step picture guide to walk you through the process without any reading involved.
Complete Procedure for Creating Nokia App Wizard
Click thumbnail to view full-size. Visit Nokia App Wizard website from Nokia.
· Login with your Nokia credentials if you have signed up for Nokia OVI store in the past. Those credentials will sign you up with App Wizard as well or create an account on the spot.
· After activating your account from your email account (if you created an account), you have to login to your Nokia App Wizard account and select “Build a new application”.
· Paste the feed address of you blog. I hope that you have already burned your feed from Google’s free Feed Burner service or follow the link to burn your blog’s feeds before proceeding with Nokia App Wizard.
· Select Preview to learn how your feeds would look on a Smartphone.
· You must have more than 3 contents (posts) for approval by Nokia App Wizard. A great rule of thumb would be 10 posts. This would make the preview look better and rich.
· On the next step you will be able to change several settings related to your feed and see live preview of your application.
· Pictures related policies are as usual as you would find on other sites. You cannot use copyrighted pictures. So, it would be a great idea to snap few pictures and crop them according to the dimension of your application.
· Next step is to acknowledge the rights about your content (that you own it).
· Next steps are just a waste of time and you won’t need them. So after having a look at few monetization options and feeling how your app looks in the emulator, you can submit it to OVI store and your app will be approved in few days.
If you have followed all guidelines and did not put any copyrighted material then I am sure that you get any warning mail in your email account.
Now, make the link available for direct download on your blog’s homepage and share it via Facebook to let your friends download it and share it further to their communities. This would launch a cycle and soon you will see a targeted traffic to your blog.
I hope that this little piece has helped you in some manner.
