It could be Half Life 3 you know!
When will Valve understand that we need to complete our destiny?! When will we be able to play as Gordon Freeman again? And most of all, when will we be able to know what the heck is going on with Borealis?
I am sure that many of you are wondering these same questions. Some would be wondering about the possibility of the development of this game and others, would be fine with the release date of Half Life 2 Episode 3 because they are not desperate enough.
But I know that I am pretty desperate to play this game once again. With all the new sequels roaming around me, like Arkham City, Fear 3, NFS Shift 2 Unleashed, Mass Effect 3, etc., the craving for Episode 3 has only increased!

According to Valve (read somewhere a while ago), the game is still in development and like Rockstar Games’s GTA V, Half Life 2 Episode 3 would be their most ambitious game ever.
Now, on a rumored note, gamers are already talking about renaming Half Life series. I am wondering as well if Valve will rename the next episode to Half Life 3 because it would be a whole new story and will conclude Half Life series for good.
Few fans got the courage to walk up to Valve’s office in Bellevue on 10th August 2011 and begged to release the next episode as soon as they could.
However, we are closing in on December 2011 and as of this moment there is still no trace about the third episode or even its trailer that matter.
Now, as far as the story is concerned. Episode 3 will take us (Gordon Freeman) to a strange ship named Borealis that is supposed to be missing from the incident of Black Mesa (Half-Life).
Alyx’s father, Dr. Eli Vance, was very much surprised when he saw that ship in a video footage at White Forest. He tells Freeman to destroy a cargo on that ship that holds some kind of world-changing power because Dr. Kleiner suggested that it can be used for better too.
So, I am assuming that we will start our journey from White Forest in Episode 3 and proceed to Borealis.
As far as the release date is concerned, I can only predict about the first trailer of Episode 3. It may launch at E3 2012 and the game could be released within 2012 -2013. I know that it is a long shot but I am sure that it would be worth the wait.
What perks would you get by waiting?
- I got into gaming world after playing Half Life 2 and it had the best visuals in comparison to some other games that I had at that time. The visuals only improved after that in succeeding episodes. So, one point would be better and more realistic visuals.
- 3D Support – Without a doubt in my mind, I can say that this game would look fabulous in 3D.
- Co-Op Mode – I would love to play with an actual Alyx by my side, but that is unlikely to happen, so I will have to play with one of my friends. Then again, it would be more awesome than just controlling Gordon Freeman. As a matter of fact, Alyx did help us a lot in Episode 2 and I want that gameplay once again. Only this time, I want a real human being controlling it.
Possibilities are endless, that is for sure and once Valve launches the trailer, we will be able to determine if Half-Life 2 Episode 3 (or Half Life 3) is worth the wait or not!
You can always take your time and search for every little piece information that you can get about Episode 3 and it would be very kind of you if you shared it with us.
Till then, we will keep our hopes high and try to find a silver lining originating from Valve’s Office.
