GTA 4 Tweaks for Mid Computers

This article contains a tweak that can optimize GTA IV files so that they can run smoothly on a low-end system. But be sure to have at least minimum requirements or even after you apply the tweak, you would not be able to play the game as you desired.

This tweak is best for the following configuration and later (means greater than that): Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz, Kingston 2GB RAM, 500 watts Zebronics modular SMPS (in case you have a good graphics card), normal cooling (just the fan based) and Windows 7 as preferred OS.

You might wonder if Windows Vista would do the job as well. The thing is Windows 7 provides DirectX 11 support and despite your card (whatever it is) not supporting DX 11.0, it still matters. That's why, for best results, you should install Windows 7. Even Windows 7 Home Premium would do the trick.

Now follow these steps exactly and you will be able to play the game smoother than before:

. Without a doubt, you should update GTA IV to the latest patch available. Just sign-in to your Windows Live account and the game will automatically find if there are any new updates or patches available. Currently, there are 7 patches available.

· Download contig.exe file. You don't have to worry about anything, like it's a virus or malicious software, it's clean and I've it in my game's directory. Also, if you don't trust the link, then try Googling it like this, "download contig.exe for GTA IV".

· Now you are done arranging softwares and files that you will be using for this tweak. Now let's optimize this game.

· Copy Contig.exe file to your GTA 4 directory, i.e. C:\program files\rockstar games\GTA IV, and paste it there.

· Create a shortcut of this file on your desktop. Right click on it and select 'Properties'.

· Now add this parameter to 'target' field, -s (press space after inverted commas). Your 'target' field should look like, "C:\........\GTAiv\contig.exe" -s, alright?

· Press 'ok' and run this shortcut with 'administrator privileges.

· This will open a command prompt window, but just sit back and relax. There nothing that you can do.

· Contig.exe will optimize all files of GTA IV game and it should take only 10 to 15 minutes, even less if your system is fast.

That is it. With the files optimized to run according to your hardware (than factory settings), you'll gain some frame rates and optimized gameplay.

Also, you can use some other softwares to boost the frame rates further for GTA IV.
