Can Crysis 3 be First DX 12.0 Game?
We are now really close to end 2010 and it has been an amazing year for gadget world.
There has been a really close competition between AMD’s and Nvidia’s graphics card all this year, and for the first time ever, they are actually competing with the same DirectX version (DirectX 10.1 vs. 10.0 went for pretty long period) and this is where the question arises, ‘how long is this going to keep up?’
Sooner or later DirectX 12 will come knocking on our door with some more amazing 3D realism and closeness to real world graphics.
I was thinking about Crysis 3 when this particular subject came into my mind, it would be just great to play Crysis 3 with DirectX 12.0.
My point is based on Stalker: Call of Pripyat. When I first heard about DirectX 11.0, the video comparison of Call Pripyat got me hooked to those graphical details it offered.
Now, Crysis 3 is going to be a pretty awesome game, especially because we would not be wandering in jungle anymore. I know that the environment gave some truly mesmerizing water and jungle effects, but apart from that, only great things were those aliens.

We would be playing in a city, where everything is ‘physics’ and you do realize that AMD (previously ATI) is still not delivering that performance (many would disagree though), so Nvidia might have an upper hand here.
Again, because of this ‘city’ thing, we will see everything that covers ‘physx’ acceleration, like hair, cloth, destructions, explosions, particles, soft bodies (those aliens are damn creepy), etc., so the only thing that can add something extra to it, would be DirectX 12.0.
Think about it, DX 9.0 vs. DX 10.0 vs. Dx 11.0, you will see yourself wondering how graphics have improved and became close to realistic. So, everything vs. Dx 12.0 would be just ‘awesome’.
I, however, want something even more great and that would be, ‘kinect support for Crysis 3’. You already know that Kinect is finally getting Microsoft’s official announcement for PC support. It’s only a matter of time, before some open-source driver let us play our spell binding games without touching our so-called gaming peripherals.
Let’s wish it this Christmas and hope for it to come true by the time we head for Crysis 3. Why don’t you add some of your own gaming wishes in the comment section below? I’ll get back to you asap.
