Hi there my fellow gamers. I hope that you are enjoying your gaming machines as much as I am enjoying mine.

Now then, I think it is time to tell you what Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is bringing in with it and if it is fun to play or not.

Also, I would be telling you the minimum system requirements to play COD MW 3 smoothly and awesomely (that’s the word!), so play close attention as we confront the past and work our way to destroy some evil plans.

My System Specifications

I don’t think that I should be dancing around with these specs but I am still pretty happy because the game is running mighty fine and the frames (as per Fraps) are not dropping below 41 (that’s more than fairly playable when you crank up every setting to highest level).

  • Processor: Intel Core i5 2320 3.0 GHz (Turbo 2.0 up to 3.7 – not needed with this game because Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.0 tells me no over clocking).
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB at 1333 Mhz
  • Graphics Card: MSI Nvidia GTX+ 9800 1GB factory clocked
  • SMPS: 500 watt Zebronics Modular
  • Motherboard: Intel DH61WW Sandy Bridge
  • Operating System: Windows 7 32-bit (I don’t have 64-bit, that’s why I get only 3.5 GB RAM rather than 4 GB)
  • Display: Compaq 17-inch CRT with 1280X1024 maximum resolution.

Alright, I know that they are not all that juicy specs but they work pretty great and wait until I tell you rest of the story.

  • I played only Modern Warfare 3 single player and my little review is going to be only about that.

  • The game sets everything to highest because of my more than average specs and just one setting is OFF by default, i.e. Sync Every Frame. I guess, it is the same setting that many games offer by the name of Vertical Sync.

  • The game works really awesome with 41 FPS and higher and for some reason, they don’t drop even when there are a lot of explosions going on or we are in a really tight pinch with Russian Soldiers.

  • The smoke effect looks amazing and there is no pixelation or odd darkening when you focus on it.
  • The water effects are absolutely gorgeous and something to really wait and look.
  • The physics simulation in the game is mind boggling (when you see all the debris falling around you because of huge explosions) and I am sure that having Nvidia 9800 GTX+ paid off.
  • The Anti-Aliasing is not great though, it is only 4X. But I would like to say that there are little to no edges in the game and everything looks nearly perfect.
  • I am sure that you can imagine how it would perform on your system when you have specs better than mine.
  • Just when I thought that characters couldn’t look any more real, the skin tone in Modern Warfare 3 blew me away. You have to see it to believe it. They are very much like us and the lip syncing is pretty cool and downright perfect.
  • The game doesn’t stutter, doesn’t lag and most of all, doesn’t crash, even when I have just 4 GB of RAM.
  • I am saying this because, the game actually uses 1.5 GB RAM and Windows 7 (with other programs) takes up 1 GB of RAM, thereby utilizing 2.5 GB of RAM and that is why I don’t run anything resource consuming in the background like transcoding videos or something like that.
  • As I have already said, the processor doesn’t over-clock itself, which means that 3.0 GHz is enough speed to run this game on highest possible settings (except resolution in my case).
  • Now let’s talk about Graphics Card usage. Since, there was no way to determine how much my VRAM is being used, I guess that based on the noise that the fan was making when I was playing game, I would say that it uses every little bit of juice out of this graphics card to deliver what it has to offer.
  • You have to note that my card is not from mainstream line of graphics card. It is a class I, performance card and though it is too old to stand in the line with the likes of AMD Radeon HD 6770 and Nvidia GTX 550 Ti, it still performs great (touch-wood) and continues to bring smile to my face when I want to play an awesome game.

I am sure that all of this information is probably enough to let you know what kind of configuration would do justice with this game and how the game performs on mainstream specs (with an exception of graphics card).

Also, I hope that pictures were enough to show you what I have written here and I am sure that you will have great fun while playing the game yourself. It is definitely worth our hard earned money. *cheers*
