Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Review

It was a great pleasure playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare series and each sequel came with a punch and Modern Warfare 3 takes it to a whole new level. In this little review article, I would be talking about Modern Warfare 3 and how it acts on a mid-stream computer system, so that you can rest assured about the performance on your system as well as on a high-end system.

My specs:

  • Intel Core i5 2320
  • 4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM
  • Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 1GB
  • Windows 7 32-bit
  • 1280X1024 resolution
  • Rest would be irrelevant. However, if you want to know further about my mid-stream system, you can just leave comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Review

  • The system configured with components listed above is pretty cheap, yet powerful enough to handle this game.
  • The frame rates were quite stable. In-game videos and cut-scenes were running at 30 FPS, as recorded by Fraps.
  • The game-play was working quite stable at 40+ FPS and did not drop below that even with several explosions, water effects, smoke effects, etc.
  • It could be a bug or something because if it is not then it is awesome. However, I would like to tell you that whether it is a bug or anything, the game looks really great and doesn’t lag or stutter. So I am happy even if it caused by bugs.
  • Modern Warfare 3 now includes the hardcore unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) that is capable of shooting down helicopters and throw grenades when there is too much heat to handle. Unfortunately, a blast of RPG (rocket propelled grenade) puts it into the ground.
  • The gameplay is much intense than before and that’s why there are loads of new weapons and accessories to suit the missions. There is the good old Predator and then, there are dual scope rifles. Switching to dual scope puts an extra scope on the rifle when you want to take a headshot on an enemy far away and iron sights aren’t sufficient.
  • However, needless to say, those dual scopes are no match for the good old sniper rifle.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Task Force 141 Yuri

  • I am still in between missions and haven’t finished the game yet so I don’t how many surprises it is going to hold for me. But I would like to tell you a similarity that I noticed in Modern Warfare 3 and Dead Space 2.
  • Let me take your attention to one of the missions of Dead Space 2 where Isaac has to dodge debris in outer space otherwise he dies every time a big hunk of junk hits him. I noticed this sort of gameplay in second mission, when we (as Yuri) arm the UGV and clear the path for our teammates (from Helicopters and terrorists). After that a blast takes out our UGV and we have to move quickly on foot to the helicopter we were saving from getting destroyed. This is where everything begins to fall apart and the ground where we are standing starts to slide down the trench. The cut scene ends and you are given control of the body. You can’t do anything but move Yuri left and right to avoid the debris. Does that sound like Dead Space 2 or not? If not, then tell me why?
  • Let’s move over to our associates. We still have Price narrating the whole story and Nikolai bleeding all over. Our friends are trying to save Nikolai and I am pretty sure that once the doctor gets us back on our feet, we would be playing as Nikolai. I don’t know right now because there is so much more to happen.
  • The graphics and sound effects are mind boggling. I thank god every single time where I hear those gun-shots and explosions on my Sony DAV DZ310 5.1 Channel Home Theatre. But it was a decision of split second and I am really glad that I made it.
  • The game doesn’t crash and I was kind of worried about it because as I was going through the forums looking for reviews and things, I found that the game was crashing a lot. I am glad that it is not the case with my unit.
  • The game does use significant amount of RAM and Processor speed (resources), but then again, if you don’t expect this from a game released in 2011, then they did not make it right!
  • I would suggest getting at least 6 GB DDR3 RAM (gaming certified). I have only 4 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM and it works great. But while playing this game, I cannot run any instance of encoding in the background. That’s why I am suggesting 6 GB RAM.

So… what did I leave then? I don’t think that I left much but in case you want to know more about it, you can always leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
