Hi there friends, let’s have a look at my mid stream personal computer that also works as a gaming pc when paired with the right graphics card.

I call it gaming pc under budget because now no game is out of my reach and wait till I show you Fraps data of Mass Effect 2, GTA IV, Batman Arkham City and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Of course I can show you many others but at the time of this writing, I have only these five great games installed on my pc!

Specifications with Price:

  • Processor and Motherboard Combo – Intel Core i5 2320 3.0 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.0 capable up to 3.3 GHz) – Rs.13000/- or $254
  • RAM – Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4Gb 1333 MHz
  • Logitech MK250 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo – Rs.1400/-
  • Monitor - Samsung S27A950D 27-inch 3D capable (3d capabilities are very bad) – Rs.29,990/-

That takes my overall system's value to Rs.65290/- and you can get yourself a really decent gaming machine for that budget, right?! Wrong!

Decent is not the right word when you play a game on the highest settings possible and if you have a craving for 3D gaming then my configurations will just fall apart.

Now, let me tell you that my system is not designed by professionals or something. I am configuring it myself and I am preparing myself for a future upgrade with Core i7 or Core i9, as the moment would suggest.

That is why you would see many parts that you don’t need and many that you still need. For example, you don’t need Rs.29990/- worth of monitor, you can get a nice monitor for only Rs.7000/- onwards.

However, once you get a look of Samsung S27A950D, you will feel that you need to increase the budget. But, well, that is not the case with several users out there.

Now, things that you still need consist of the RAM size. I bought Corsair Vengeance for only Rs.1800 and it is single DIMM, i.e. my other slot is free for some upgrade.

Unfortunately my motherboard supports only 8GB of maximum RAM and that is why I will be able to buy only 4GB of additional RAM when the time comes. However, 8 GB total RAM is enough for any application or game.

So, here is a general list of specifications and price that will suit many users:

GTA IV

That is just what you need to play games at highest settings (for games released till 2010) and medium settings (for 2011 and onwards).

Now, if you are wondering why my system doesn’t have these specs then you need to know that I bought Compaq Sr1930IL when I was in school 5 years ago. I have been upgrading the system little by little and keeping it alive.

Recently, I did a major upgrade of Rs.16000/- and turned the whole thing around. With a great graphics card at hand, now no game is out of my reach. However, I am still looking forward for a final upgrade and that is going to happen next year I suppose.

The specs that I told you are just a generalization of what you should get when you are about to buy a new computer.

The products listed aren’t time independent and they will become old as soon as a new technology hits the shelves. The point is you have to look around you for the best possible setup.

You have to look the internet and ask people, not just go to a retailer and start assembling the system. I am telling you, they will never tell you what is latest and what will work great for your budget. After all, they are there to make some profit out of your money.

Morality apart, you should checkout the images. Please leave a comment if you want to know more about the subject.
