Apple is going to announce the most awaited pad of the year 2011 (awaited not winner!!), i.e. iPad 2, on March 2nd 2011. So, it is alright for the rumors to gain a bump and jump before the thing heads for the stage. As the moment comes closer, leaked and rumored specifications are also getting reliable and trustworthy. So, even if you don't believe me or any other source, this is all we have got till now on iPad 2 before it is even released.

Apple iPad 2 looks more like the stretched out version of iPhone 4 and since it will be slimmer than iPad, there is no denying for the fact that it will resemble iPhone 4 even more.
As for the weight is considered, it will be lighter than before and possibly around 1.3 Pounds.
Display
Resolution: 1024X768 - You might be wondering as to why the resolution is still the same. Yeah! That's the point as well, but multiple sources are reporting that Apple will keep the resolution intact and may be roll out some upgrade in near future like Xoom to make it better just in case.
Size: 10.1 - inch - A smaller screen was never the idea in the mind of Steve Jobs and he plans to crank it up a little bit, so that it can withstand its position with other Pads and Tablets and I am talking about two of the greatest tablets this year, i.e. Motorola Xoom and upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
Both tablets sport (will sport in case of Tab 2) high-resolution screen with bigger display than iPad. So, there is no denying for the fact that to match their specs in one way or the other (because iPad 2 is not going to have 1GHz processor), the size of the screen must go up.
Then again, we are dealing with one hell of a crazy mind here (no offense please) and some times, there is just no getting around on what Steve Jobs thinks and why!

Steve Jobs is already convinced that 2011 will be the year of iPad 2, just like, he showed in the slide shows along the way, that 2010 was the year of iPad.
Capacity or Disk Size
It will come with various options as always, like 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB flash drive. However, I am thinking about taking this rumour all the way to 120 GB. Same reason that made millions of 120GB iPod Classic sell (size!!).
So, what do we have with us? Well, if we don't get a nice resolution boost despite large screen size, we might as well get a big disk.
Now, are you wondering that 120 GB disk would make iPad 2 heavier? It certainly will and this is why we need Apple to find a way out this.
Flash Drive may do the trick, so let's stick with this leak about 120 GB disk space inside iPad 2.
Processor
1.2 GHz Apple A5 Custom Designed processor.
You cannot blame me for this one, because I got it from a friend a mine who works in Apple and though he could not disclose the whole thing, he did indicate that variants were 1.4 and 2.0 GHz in manufacturing. So, whether you want to hear it or not, Apple iPad 2 might actually be the fastest Pad available after Xoom.
Without a doubt, now its time to create an imagination: iPad 2 will be perfect for multitasking, playing games at blazing speed and hyperthreading. Oops! I think I got a bit far with that 'hyperthreading' thing. Anyway, the damage is done and we'll know the real deal on 2nd March 2011.
RAM
No need to guess a lot here friends. We'll satisfy ourselves with 512MB of RAM size.
Extra Feature
This one is our area and please don't flame me for making this area a bit too imaginative. So, here we go.
ThunderBolt in iPad 2
You've already seen Thunderbolt in MacBook Pro 2011, so with so much promise, comes great iPads (or just iPad 2). Thunderbolt supports bidirectional data transfer and is compatible with HDMI and 10GB/sec speed, so Apple might give it a chance.
4G or Upgradeable to 4G
No wonder here. iPad 2 might come with a preinstalled 4G chip or we'll have to ship iPad 2 back to Apple for the upgrade. I don't know (or believe) if it will be free of cost or not.
Front Facing Camera
Yeah! No wonder here as well. iPad lacked this feature and so did iPhone 3g. So, iPad 2 might have a nice 1.3 MP or 2 MP camera in the front for FaceTime and Video Conferencing.

I am thoroughly glad I waited and look forward to buying the new Ipad2. I will say this if I had the original Ipad i might think long and hard before upgrading. To be honest the first one was very impressive and while Ipad2 has some changes IMHO it was not radical but moderate.
So excited about this iPad 2! Nice predictions! I think a lot of them had to come true though...or it would have been a huge disappointment for iPad fans!
So, I guess I was right about iPad 2. If you are keeping yourself updated then you would know that many things said in this article are becoming true, like A5 processor, 1.3 Pound weight, etc.

You're d man Billionare. Anyway, hold on to your guns cuz you might want to shoot Xoom after u try iPad 2 (and that's what u are hoping as well, i guess). Anyway, Bently purses for iPad, Blackberry and iPhone are out in the market now. going to grab some?
I went into to best buy to test drive the Xoom. I am impressed. I did quiz the sales guy. He felt Xoom overpriced itself and can see the price going down. It is smooth and fast. I am still going to wait on Ipad2 and stick with my guns.

sold man! Visualizing a person (myself) holding a 10.1 inch iPad 2 made me laugh and feel embarrassed a little when everyone knows about gorgeous 12mp smartphones and standalone cameras.
Kindle should offer their App store for iPad 2 as well, so that we can have a huge library of digital books to read. iPad 2 will at least support .Pub format, i guess.
kk i was a bit cavalier about the camera and you brought up a good point, However holding a rectangle object and say cheese does look a little odd lol. I do like the idea of the front camera and i do think video chat is the next big wave similar to posting pics on fbook or you tube. I look fwd to never reading a magazine off the rack but just booting up the ipad and see the glitzy look.
You make a very good case Billionare. However, what u are saying about how many use camera on iPad worries me a little because I've seen many people love to capture and watch those snaps on such a big screen. I guess that's why a 5MP was much needed with iPad 2. Xoom also sports 5MP camera with 720p video capturing ability so why wouldn't iPad 2.

the Ipad looks great at the current display. I agree with Apple why spend the extra money to upgrade the video quality. I think most folks just want it to work seemless and effortlessly. I know folks have been raising sand about the camera but lets be real how many will actually use it as camera but Apple caved in i guess. 120 gb wow that sounds like overkill but definitly would give it major buzz and send the competition playing catch up again. I would like a little more flexibilty in using outside apps besides those locked into Itunes. Everything else satisfies me KK

@SavannahG Thanks for your wonderful comment and I am so astounded by my predictions being true, especially the weight thing. After hearing that iPad 2 is 9 times better in graphics department then iPad, I kind of thought that, it's not going to be thin and light. But it is, iPad 2 is definitely something to look forward to.

@Billionare - So dear friend, it's kind of great to wait for ipad 2. It's blazing fast (i hope u r keeping up with live blogging by top gadget sites) and shockingly thin while keeping some things intact.
I was right about few things but I got that ThunderBolt port wrong, but it would a been a nice addition. So, hard luck, we'll see if Apple retouch the hardware section for iPad 2 later this year.
Go grab your hands on iPad 2 man and give us something we are all waiting for. But you'll have to wait a long while for a pre-order. iPad 2 is still under introduction phase.
