MacBook Pro 2011 Specs and Price

MacBook Pro 2011 Are Here!

New MacBook Pro laptops are up for being on your desk. New configurations are mouth watering and the system looks really fast and simply put… delightful! Have a look at them individually.

Processor

You have 3 options according to the display size. They are 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch. 13-inch laptops are for portability only because they do not sport an amazing configuration. Here is what you get with each of them:

13-inch

2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 Processor 2nd Generation

You have the option to configure your 13-inch laptop with 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7 Processor, to make it a lot faster than before. However, I do not recommend that. Wait till you see what display adapter it sports and you’ll say ‘no’ to an upgrade on a 13-inch MacBook Pro.

15-inch

2.0 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor

Now, this processor is much-much better in comparison to Dual Core i5, not only it is fast to perform multiple tasks quickly but also, it is Quad-core with respect to Dual-core.

You may opt for 2.2GHz processor, which would be .2 GHz (200 MHz) increase from the former that is again, not advisable due to the price difference it makes.

17-inch

2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Processor

This category doesn’t let you upgrade your processor to anything better because you’ll already get the best there is to offer by Apple at this time.

2.2 GHz is more than enough of Core i7 for multi tasking and enjoying what you do on your laptop.

RAM

4 GB DDR3 at 1.3 GHz or 1333 MHz

Sadly all the categories (categorized as per display sizes) have 4 GB DDR3 RAM and since I don’t know the exact setup, I can only assume that all of your ‘Memory Slots’ will be occupied and you will have to sell or give some of it to increase (install) the total RAM.

Display

13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch with option of Glossy or Anti-Glare finish (not for 13-inch MacBook Pros’).

It should have been on the first paragraph, but you only have the option to upgrade your processor and graphics card, that’s why I chose Processor.

Resolutions are 1280X800, 1440X900 or 1680X1050 high-resolution and 1920X1200, respectively.

As you can deduce by yourself, you have no options for 13-inch laptop and 17-inch (though you do not need any for this one). In 15-inch category you can choose between wide-screen (1440x900) and high-resolution (1680X1050), also, you do have option to select between Anti-glare and Glossy in both cases (in all except 13-inch).

Graphics Card

Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB, AMD Radeon HD 6490 256 MB and AMD Radeon HD 6750 1GB

I hope that you have become good at guessing by now. Lowest one is for 13-inch laptop and is not upgradable. 15-inch is getting the care of both Intel HD graphics and AMD 6490 256 MB that is upgradable (configurable) to 6750 1GB (which is recommendable only when you want to stick with 15-inch MacBook Pro).

17-inch MacBook Pro is getting all the love again with AMD Radeon HD 6750 1GB and it is not upgradable further. It is the best you get with the last and the biggest MacBook Pro for now.

Storage

13-inch: 320 GB (option for 500 GB)

15-inch: 500 GB (option for 750 GB)

17-inch: 750 GB (N/A)

All drives are working at 5400 RPM, which is not very impressive from a 2011 MacBook Pro. In any case, we hope that these drives work at their best, especially with 13-inch laptops.

Battery

Up to 7 hours for each category

This could be the most impressive part of Pro laptops, however, I was really wishing for something more (at least 9hrs) with those 13-inches as they look really weak against other impressive MacBook Pros’.

Extra Features

Precision aluminium uni-body: Looks great as always.

Thunderbolt port – Like Intel Light Peak to unify multiple display and connectivity ports with a single multi-purpose port. It will completely eliminate many display ports in near future.

FaceTime HD camera – Do not believe it because it doesn’t have enough capability to deliver HD. However, the quality is still very nice in comparison to SD (Standard Definition) FaceTime.

Full-size, backlit keyboard – Nothing new, but still, fun to work with.

Price

So, that does it for the part where I tell you about the specification and now let’s head on to Price section. Just one more paragraphs folks and then, I’ll leave you to decide which MacBook Pro is better for you.

13-inch: $1199 and $1499

15-inch: $1799 and $2199

17-inch: $2499

That’s a lot of money for MacBook Pros’ because there is still plenty of room to make it ‘value for money’. So… let’s hope they realize it soon and make some necessary and essential changes to fit the market and our pocket.

Very nice presentation. You could add another lens about which type or model to choose including the reasons for each choice. Thanks.
